Today I honor veterans that have served and of which many gave the ultimate sacrifice. I'm also saddened today to feel that we have nearly wasted their service and blood.

With news each day of children being sexually abused by church, school, athletic organizations and those adults charged with their care, America falls further into ill-repute. It is unbelievable that an organization such as NAMBLA even exists. Americans have died for the freedom to form such an organization, but doesn't NAMBLA's existence at the same time dishonor the sacrifices?

We kill thousands of the defenseless unborn each day. Children are our most precious resource, yet we allow them to be destroyed as an unwanted growth. We allow them to be abused by their supposed protectors. We allow them to suffer in conditions that we would not allow our pets to be in. In some places they are treated as chattel, nothing more than a useless bauble. How can we repay a veteran's service when we use our destruction of the most defenseless as our currency?

America is no longer the nice girl you would take home to meet mom. She has become crass, tawdry and hollow-eyed from her deeds.

I sound hopeless. I'm not. I know that where others have fallen to protect our freedoms, more will follow. For all her faults, America produces wonderful sons and daughters, when she chooses to nurture them.

President Thin-Skin or how to rat on your fellow citizens on one easy website

Wow, just wow. Have you seen this new website? In just a few easy keystrokes and a couple of mouse clicks you can join the jackboots at Obama For America (OFA) in making sure nobody says anything that might penetrate The Won's thin skin.

Forget that his policies are putting new people out of work and keeping others from rejoining the workforce, you only need to be concerned about how PBO is perceived by the unwashed masses. Isn't that what's important? Really, there's no other job more important than his correct?

On a more serious note, this really is the peak of narcissism and fascism all rolled into one act. We should be truly worried about a president and a set of advisers that see nothing wrong with this. We should be concerned about an administration that is more concerned about messaging than the unemployed.

We've had flag@whitehouse.gov Now we have this. What's next; a toll-free number or better yet, a direct hot-line on your government supplied cell phone?

The founding fathers are spinning in their graves and I'm on my knees praying.

The President Needs a Sandbox

Honestly, I now believe Obama never had a sandbox as a child. I'm becoming even more convinced he may have never had an opportunity to play in one.

It could go a long way toward explaining why he has this constant penchant for trying to solve our unemployment and the larger economic problem with "roads and bridges". He and his advisers can't seem to grasp the concept that these infrastructure jobs aren't permanent and are not a realistic solution. If he is truly concerned about the state of our infrastructure then a better use of manpower exists on the welfare rolls. I'm sure many would jump at the chance. My naive side is not being sarcastic, but it's in the minority.

But ol' Barack likes to think big -- boil the ocean kind of thinking. So, he'll need a really big sandbox to to get his fix. Where can we find that much unwanted real estate? California comes to mind. Don't get me wrong, there are some beautiful parts of the Golden State, but liberals have run rampant in the southern reaches. They're intent on turning large areas of the state into a desert by limiting irrigation to protect flora and fauna that nobody else gives a rat's patootie about and likely have no value outside of an encyclopedia. This is a win-win-win situation. We can give President Engineer-wannabe a place to play (and maybe even be preoccupied), the liberals stop whining about at least one thing and maybe we can move on to solve problems without repetitive "roads and bridges" ideas.

P.S. The Left Coast should be glad I didn't think he needed a litter box.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President.

As you bask in the glow of last night's $35K+ per-person adulation and continue your celebration on your birthday today, I'd like to ask you to reflect on some things that Americans are not celebrating.

Our debt is now 100% of GDP
Your stimulus and healthcare bills only steepened the downward spiral our economy is in
Our unemployment is at 9.2%. The nation's youth employment picture is even worse due to household wage earners filling jobs normally filled by our youth.
Our people and their representatives, contrary to your promises to unite us, are even more divided due to your personal demagoguery of those that oppose your policies
You have now "pivoted to jobs" for a total of 7 times. Is it for real this time?
Mr. President, you have asked for more time. We don't have it.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President. Enjoy your day; many across this country won't be able to.

Time to kick-start this thing up again...

Now that I'm using Twitter as my main outlet (isn't everyone welcome to my opinion?) I still want to elaborate beyond the 140 character ceiling. Just like texts & emails, tweets are often misinterpreted unless you have a really good understanding of where the author is coming from. And Facebook is becoming less interesting as a platform for opinion sharing. It's great for keeping up with family and friends though!

So, it you're here via browsing or a tweet, my thanks. I hope you'll find something of interest or a perspective that makes you think -- even though I risk your thought being "where in the heck is he coming from?".

Trying out Windows Live & catching up…

Well, long time no post. You know how it goes… you have great intentions to step up on the soapbox, let people know how you feel; you know, get stuff off your chest.

Then life happens.

A lot has happened since I last posted. I’ve reconnected with estranged loved ones, gone on a Paris vacation with my family and watched my children grow. That last one is bittersweet. It’s a joy to see them grow into independent young women; it’s sad to see them leave or prepare to leave. Wait a minute, what am I thinking?

In my best childlike sing-song voice… We’re gonna be empty nesters – we’re gonna be empty nesters…

Just this evening, while standing in my boxers, I said to my wife “Just think honey, as soon as they’re all moved out I can spend my evenings this way”. Well, you could probably foresee that I got the look I deserved and not the one I was hoping for.

Even though I won’t be traipsing around in my Old Navy boxers - at least when I’m not the only one home - I know some of the best years are still ahead. Raising kids is a wonderful part of a good marriage, but Deb and I were fortunate to learn very early on that we just plain enjoy each other’s company. We enjoy the simple together things… running errands on a Saturday, painting a bedroom or driving to a weekend getaway.

I think we’ll do just fine at this soon-to-be empty nester thing.

Well, I got to try out Windows Live on my new Windows 7-based laptop. Hopefully, I won’t be a stranger to my own blog site any longer.
